I invited Steve and Kyleigh to Sean’s party at the Sky Club that Friday night. Sean asked me to bring some more of my friends as he wanted the place to be packed. I don’t think clubbing was Steve’s thing, but he’d go anywhere if Kyleigh was there so I had to invite her. I also wanted to be a good wingwoman by allowing him more opportunities to hang out with her after hours, even though she was kinda on her own beat the whole time.

They joined me, Clara and Carly on the dance floor when DJ Khalif started playing. I never heard him play live before. I’m more into alternative music than electronica but I was a fan of some of his songs. Besides, electronica is best for when you just want to let loose, and I was planning to let loose tonight after the long week I had.

My feet started to get a little sore in my heels, but I didn’t care. The music was pumping and the smoke and lasers from the effects machine only added to the atmosphere. My waist swayed from side to side as the beat took over me. Sean did a great job with this party, even though he was missing in action. He was probably busy, but I was hoping wherever he was, that he could see all of my moves.

I was feeling myself and I wanted him to see.

After a few minutes I was sweaty and thirsty, so I went over to the bar to get a drink when I saw Poppy. I didn’t think she would come since she said she had plans with Everett that night. “What happened to your romantic dinner?” I asked.

“He forgot to make the reservations….again!” She chuckled. “Good thing you didn’t take us off the list. And Sean was so nice to agree to put Aunt T on it.”

“Aunt T?” I asked, and then I looked over and saw Everett on the dance floor with his mother.

“Why did you bring her?” I asked, slightly amused by some of her old school dance moves and her weird Mom-sweater.

“She wanted to come.” Poppy answered.

“How did she find out about the party?”

“I made the mistake of mentioning it and she started reminiscing about the old days. I felt bad.”

“Partying with your future mother-in-law? I don’t know if I’d do that.” I teased.

“Why not? She’s got some sweet moves, don’t you think?”

She kinda did. If not for her grey hair and outfit choice, she’d blend in nicely with the rest of my friends on the dance floor. I’m surprised Clara didn’t notice her yet. I’d give her another fifteen minutes before she did and then I’d see that classic Clara eye-roll before she parked herself by the bar for the rest of the night.

“Where’s Sean anyway?” Poppy asked.

“He’s somewhere around…I think. I haven’t seen him yet. He’s probably busy or…whatever…”

She eyed me for a second and then said, “Ah, I see now.”

“See what?”

“Why you made that spa appointment this morning. Someone’s planning on getting lucky tonight.”

“I…I’m not.” I said, hoping she wouldn’t notice the blood rushing to my cheeks.

“Bullshit!” She giggled. “You want Sean so bad!”

“Ok, fine, yes.” I rolled my eyes at her. “Just…be cool.”

Whenever I was interested in a guy I couldn’t tell Poppy because she’d drop comments and make it so obvious that I had a crush on him. Luckily, we were in a crowded club so hopefully she won’t say or do anything in front of him that would give me away.

Sean and I had been texting each other all week. Some of our messages were a little on the flirtatious side but I wasn’t sure if he was interested in me too or just being…Sean.

About an hour passed before I finally laid eyes on him. He was talking to someone, so I waited around until he was alone to approach him. “I thought I’d never get to see you tonight.”

He turned around and gave me one of his killer smiles. “Hey gorgeous, I saw you on the floor earlier.”

“You did?”

“Uh-huh. I forgot what a great dancer you are.”

“I can’t hold a candle to you. Come dance with me, show me some of your moves.”

“Sit with me instead.” He took my hand and led me over to a corner of the club to sit next to him. My feet were killing me so I gladly went. We were still in plain sight of everyone in the club but it was lot quieter which made it easier to hear each other talk. “I’m exhausted.” He groaned. “Finally getting a chance to sit down.”

“Your hard work paid off. This party is lit!” I said. “Congratulations!”

“Thanks. See that guy I was talking to just now? He just hired me to do his daughter’s high school graduation party!”

“Really? Just like that?”

“Yeah, apparently she follows me on Simstagram and she just had to have me plan her party. The budget he’s looking at is ridiculous! Plus he offered way more than I usually charge. Of course, I said yes.”

“That’s so great but I thought you just did club parties?”

“I mean, I prefer doing clubs. I’d like to own my own one someday. But I’m not gonna turn down any paying gig right now.”

“Any paying gig? So what if I hired you to plan my backyard pool party, would you do that?”

“A chance to see you in a bikini again? Count me in!” He bit his lip and then scooted closer to me to where I could feel his breath against my face. He smelled like his signature cologne and a ridgeport or two.

“I’m sure you’ve seen my bikini pics on Simstagram.” I said.

“Couldn’t hurt to see in person.”

“Alright, then I guess I’ll let you know if that pool party is still on.”

“You better.”

“Or else what…?” I put my hand on his thigh and that made him lean in some more.

“Or else…I’ll be very disappointed.”

“Disappointed huh? You really want to see me half naked that bad?”

We sat there with our faces merely inches apart while his eyes stared at my lips. His finger slowly brushed against the skin of my bare knee. “…what if I said ‘yes’?”

I put my mouth to his ear and whispered, “If you play your cards right, you might get to see more than that.”

I thought for sure he would close the gap and kiss me. I wanted him to. I even puckered up in anticipation for it.

But he didn’t.

“Did you try the Wutaheftabir?” He said, after clearing his throat. “It’s a big hit. Let’s go get some before it runs out.”

He practically jumped off the seat and started walking towards the bar. I had no choice but to follow him. Why did he hesitate to kiss me just now? It was such a perfect moment too. Our little corner was too dark for anyone to see us unless they came looking for us there. Maybe he didn’t want to be caught making out with someone while he was supposed to be working. That had to be it.

At least the Wutaheftabir was actually good.

“This is imported from one of the best breweries in all of Windenburg.” Sean said. “The owner’s gonna start bringing it in if it’s successful. And I get a small commission from the brewery for the recommendation.”

“I always knew one day you’d grow up to become a good hustler!” I joked.

“Me, hustler? I’m a business man!”

“Whose business is hustling, first with weed in high school and now parties and German beer. Face it Norwood, you’re a hustler!”

“And you Sloane ended up a bleeding-heart tree hugger!” He chuckled. “Just like I always thought you’d be.”

“That’s right and I’ll embrace that title!”

We laughed and then he asked, “How’s the garden project coming along?”

“It’s…coming along. I don’t wanna talk about that. I wanna have fun tonight.”

“That bad, huh?”

“It’s not bad, just frustrating. I wanna make real change and it’s not working out the way I want. I feel like I’m wasting time. I want to do more and…”

“Uh…I didn’t hear most of what you said!” He yelled over the music which got louder as the bass dropped and the crowd made cheered.

I figured this would be my chance to find out once and for all if Sean was interested in me like I was interested in him.

“Where are you going?” He asked, as I started to walk away.

“Somewhere quiet.” I smirked.

“Quiet?”

“And private. Wanna join me?”

I walked off and didn’t look back. I hoped he would follow me. If he didn’t, then I’d know.

He did.

I felt him walking close behind me. We were in the lobby when I felt his arm wrap around my waist from behind and pull me into the men’s room. Before I could say a word, he locked the door and then pulled me into his arms.

“What if someone comes knocking?” I asked, my heart pounding in my chest.

“They can wait.”

I wasn’t gonna lie, I was really nervous. I’d never done anything like this before. I was aiming to walk out of the club, like maybe around back where we could make out for a little while. The fact that he brought me in here and locked the door meant that he was planning to do more than simply makeout. I didn’t mind. I was ready. I’d just never done it in a public place before, especially a men’s bathroom. At least this one was nice and seemed clean.

He kissed me and it was like…an explosion! It was everything I thought it would be and more. His tongue hungrily explored my mouth the same way his hands did. I liked that.

Pretty soon, we stumbled upon the couch in the corner. He unbuckled his belt and pulled me onto his lap. I liked how aggressive he was. I liked the way his mouth kissed my lips and my neck, making me shiver in excitement. I liked the way his hands touched me like I belonged to him. I especially liked the way he groaned when his hand rubbed the back of my skirt and discovered my little secret. “No panties?”

“None.”

He grunted. “You’re so fucking hot!”

I knew he’d appreciate that. Poppy was right – I did plan on getting lucky tonight so I took precautions. I just didn’t think it would happen here at the club but I wasn’t complaining. I was so hot for him, I’d let him do me anywhere. Well, not anywhere

“Wait!” He gasped, abruptly ending our kiss as he started to push me off his lap. “I can’t do this!”

I stood up, nearly stumbling backwards. I tried to hold on to him to recover my balance but he just raised his hands up like he didn’t want me to touch him at all. “Wh-what’s wrong?” I asked.

This is wrong!”

“But why?” I asked, glancing down at his visible hard-on. He obviously wanted to have sex with me. Did he just not want to do it here? Maybe he felt like we were rushing it? If we were gonna take our relationship to the next level, a couch in a public bathroom isn’t exactly the most romantic place to seal the deal. “I get it, you’re right. Let’s go back to your place later and…”

“My girlfriend lives with me.”

I blinked. I blinked again. “Girlfriend?”

I suddenly felt really cold now. I started fixing my skirt, regretting my choice to not wear any underwear. There was a draft in the room that I didn’t notice before because I was so turned on. Now that I was humiliated and uncomfortable instead, it was hard to ignore. “Like a serious girlfriend?”

“It’s pretty serious to me. We just moved in together. She moved here from the city to be with me and…I can’t cheat on her, Liv. I’m sorry. You’d like her actually. She’s into fashion and…”

“I really don’t give a fuck, Sean!” I wasn’t embarrassed anymore. I was livid! How could he have a girlfriend – one he’s living with – and not tell me?! “What the fuck is wrong with you?! Why would you tell me this NOW?”

“Look, I had a few drinks tonight and…you in that short skirt and…I lost my head for a minute.”

“I can’t believe you would do this to me, Sean!” I scoffed and shook my head at him. “I can’t believe you would put me in this position!”

“Whoa, wait a minute, you were the one coming on to me all night, not wearing any panties! You tried to seduce me!”

“Because I thought you were single!”

He frowned and then winced. “Shit…she’s all over my Simstagram, Liv. I thought you knew and didn’t care.”

I did see a handful of pictures of him with some blonde chick going back a few months, but he never said she was his girlfriend. For all I know, she could have been another one of his many casual flings, and they were all pictures from when he still lived in San Myshuno, nothing recent. How was I to know he brought her with him when he moved back? He certainly never mentioned this ‘serious girlfriend’ while we were texting each other ALL WEEK. “I’m not trying to be anyone’s side chick and you should know me better than that!”

He sighed. “You’re right. I should have known you wouldn’t…Look, I fucked up, it’s all on me. I had a moment of weakness and…I was wrong. I’m sorry.”

Like saying sorry would make me feel any better.

“You’re not gonna tell anyone, right?”

That you’re a lying, cheating prick? I should! But he was still my friend, I think. “I won’t tell anyone.”

“Thanks. I…uh…I gotta go…back to the party. I’ll see you around.”

“Whatever.”

I waited a little while after he left to come out. I had to fix my clothes and my makeup. And maybe give myself a little pep talk in the mirror while I was at it. My self-esteem took a huge blow. I really liked Sean and I thought he liked me back. I thought he and I would finally get our chance. We’ve liked each other for years but the timing was always off. Guess it’s still off.

A girlfriend? He must really like her to be so serious about her. Then again, he almost made it to third base with me so maybe he’s not so serious about her after all.

“You slut!” Clara cheesed as I walked up to her. “I saw you go into that bathroom with Sean! Already though? That quick huh?”

Even Steve was looking at me expectantly like he wanted the deets as well.

“Yeah, it was quick.”

She winced a little out of disappointment for me and then dropped it. I was glad for that. I couldn’t bluff bad sex with Sean and keep straight face since I was willing to bet he was pretty awesome in bed. I would never know now. Not sure why I lied or why I said anything at all when I told him I wouldn’t. Maybe I felt like getting back at him or something. It was stupid, and it didn’t make me feel any better.

The party suddenly sucked. I was so ready to go home.
